Ghana became independent in the year 1957. The country is bordered on the west by Ivory Coast, on the north by Burkina Faso and Togo on the east. The country is found on the northern shore of the Gulf of Guinea. Ghana is spread over an area of 92,100 square kilometers and has an approximate population of twenty-three million. The name of the country sprung from a traditional dominion that dominated the land in the 11th century. British is the official language in this country. However, there are more than a hundred languages and dialects spoken in Ghana. Christianity and Islam are the 2 most prevalent faiths in this land. The town of Accra is the commercial center and the capital of Ghana. A sightseeing tour should definitely be on your agenda of things to do in Accra. Hiring an automobile or SUV is simple to do, as many of the bigger Accra hostels offer this service. Ghana is a fantastic and economical destination for nature lovers, visitors and wildlife fans. Climate in this part of the planet is tropical. The Greenwich Meridian passes through the country. Dense tropical forests that are intersected by heavily forested hills, streams and streams are present across the country. Ghana's most distinguishing geographical feature is the Volta Stream , on which Akosombo Dam was built in 1964. Another engaging destination in Ghana is the Lake Volta, the biggest synthetic lake around the world. |
